Invisalign
WHAT IS INVISALIGN?
Invisalign are invisible braces, an alternative to metal braces. Invisalign is used to treat a variety of cases and is great for adults and teens looking for a comfortable and convenient way to correct their smile. Conditions typically treated with Invisalign include spaced teeth, overly crowded teeth, crossbite, underbite and overbite.
Invisalign uses custom-made series of aligners created for you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. You can smile with no fear of showing the metal braces.
Wearing Invisalign trays are also very convenient. You can easily remove it when eating and cleaning your teeth. Your aligners come with an Invisalign cleaning kit, or you can brush and rinse them under warm water.
HOW DOES INVISALIGN WORK?
After examination to determine whether Invisalign is right for you, the orthodontist will plan your treatment. The doctor will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth to use to create digital 3-D images of them. From these images the doctor will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth. Based on your individual treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners are then created specifically for you.
Simply wear them throughout the day, and remove them when you eat or to brush and floss your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth gently and gradually begin to shift into place. Approximately every two weeks, you will wear a new set of aligners, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment. To monitor your progress, you will also need to have occasional checkups with your orthodontist, usually every six to eight weeks.
The average treatment period for Invisalign is 20-36 months, depending on the severity of your teeth.
