Braces procedure

The braces procedure requires both time and co-operation. The patients need to strictly follow doctors’ instructions in order to get the best result. The average time for each complete case is approximately from 1 to 2 years, with the steps as followed:

Step 1: Clinical examination and X-rays review

HD Dental Clinic is fully equipped with devices that can capture panoramic and cephalometric X-rays on the skull ; computer software that can collect and analyse data on the conditions of the teeth and jaw; on the basis of fully meeting the the requirements of a beautiful smile with functional temporomandibular joint and muscle. Analysing data on the computer and using orthodontic design software to plan the treatment can help patients to fully understand the conditions of their teeth and jaws, how the treatment would alter that and what the final result would be.

Step 2: Treatment planning and consulting

After analysing and evaluating the orthodontic requirements, doctors will assign an appropriate plan for the treatment. Different plans are chosen based on the type of brace that would suit the condition of the teeth and jaw and also patient’s available length of time. Some types of braces include metallic, ceramic, self-locking and lingual braces. However, there is a new type of onthodoctic treatment that does not require braces called Invisalign (clear transparent braces). The consulting process is also important to help patients to understand the process and what to do during the treatment. Co-operation and following doctors’ instructions are extremely important for the best result.

Step 3: Tartar removal (Teeth cleaning)

This is the most basic step to clean teeth, remove any remaining compounds that might cause dental issues, because oral hygiene would be more difficult during the orthodontic treatment. Besides, all damages such as tooth decay or breakage should be taken care of so that the teeth will be in their best condition for the treatment.

Step 4: Fitting in the braces

Fitting braces and strings on the teeth is the beginning of a long process of wearing some strange stuff’ in your mouth

Step 5: Wearing the braces and re-examination

After fitting in the braces, re-examination will be carried out periodically, varying from 7 days, 2 weeks to 1 month. The length of which will vary based on the condition of each case and the length of the whole process. Usually on the latter part of the treatment, the length of time for re-examination will be longer. During re-examination, braces and strings might be adjusted (for Invisalign cases, the clear braces will be replaced). X-rays will also be taken to evaluate the progress of the treatment and teeth differ from the beginning.

Step 6: Remove the braces
After removing the braces, the treatment is not yet over. Whether our teeth are nice and healthy will depend on whether patients follow doctors’ post-treatment instructions.

In many cases, a hard plastic retainer is used after the braces have been removed in order to prevent dislocation and maintain the result of the treatment.

HD Dental Clinic now has orthodontic plans from only 20.000.000 VND for 2 year treatment.
